1. Introduction & Applicability
This Privacy Policy and Terms of Use governs your access to and use of SonicDownloader (package: com.wapsapps.sonicdownloader), an Android application created and maintained by WapsApps ("Developer", "we", "us", or "our").
By installing, downloading, accessing, or using the SonicDownloader application or associated backend services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please uninstall and discontinue using SonicDownloader immediately.
2. Information We Collect & Process
SonicDownloader is designed with strict privacy minimization principles. We collect only the minimum technical data necessary to safely process download requests, safeguard our infrastructure against fraudulent bot abuse, and maintain application stability:
A. User-Provided Public Content URLs
When you paste, type, or share a public link from Instagram, Facebook, or X (Twitter) into the application, that URL is transmitted to our backend parsing service exclusively to extract the corresponding direct public media download stream link. These URLs are processed ephemerally and are never linked to personal identities.
B. Device & Installation Identifiers
To ensure high availability and prevent Denial of Service (DoS) and automated bot scraping, our backend receives:
- Installation UUID (`deviceId`): A randomly generated app-specific identifier created upon installation. It is non-persistent across factory resets.
- Google Advertising ID (AAID/GAID): Standard Android advertising identifier provided by Google Play Services, used for advertising frequency capping and attribution (which you can reset or delete at any time in your Android system settings).
- Google Play Integrity Hardware Attestation: Encrypted cryptographic verification tokens provided by the Google Play Integrity API to attest that the app binary has not been tampered with and is running on a genuine certified Android device.
C. Technical Device Metadata & Telemetry
The application may transmit basic device telemetry including app version code, Android OS version, device model manufacturer, device locale/language, and timezone. This metadata is strictly utilized to troubleshoot compatibility and format downloads correctly for your hardware.
D. IP Address & Network Logging
Like virtually all Internet services, our servers automatically log the client's public IP address. We use IP addresses solely for rate-limiting (e.g. limiting excessive automated requests per minute) and preventing malicious attacks against our APIs. IP logs are automatically rotated and purged.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
Our Zero-Knowledge Privacy Standard:
- No Account Credentials: We NEVER ask for, store, or access your Instagram, Facebook, or X passwords, usernames, two-factor codes, or private session tokens.
- No Private Media: We cannot access, view, or download private posts, direct messages (DMs), or restricted content. Only publicly available links can be parsed.
- No Personal Identity: We do not collect your real name, email address, physical address, phone number, or contacts list.
- No Browsing Tracking: We do not monitor, track, or record your browsing history outside of URLs you deliberately paste into the app.
4. How We Use Information
We process the limited information described above exclusively for legitimate business and technical purposes:
- Core App Functionality: To parse public media links and provide download streams to your device.
- Service Reliability & Debugging: To identify crashes, fix bugs, and ensure the app performs across diverse Android hardware models.
- Anti-Abuse & Security: To protect our servers from Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, brute-force requests, and automated scraping.
- Non-Personalized or Personalized Advertising: To support free app operations via Google Mobile Ads (AdMob).
- In-App Purchases: To process premium ad-free upgrades securely via Google Play In-App Billing.
5. Android Device Permissions
SonicDownloader requests only standard Android permissions essential to perform its function:

8. Intellectual Property & Developer Legal Protection
A. No Affiliation with Third-Party Platforms: SonicDownloader is an independent utility software application. It is NOT affiliated with, associated with, sponsored by, authorized by, or endorsed by Meta Platforms, Inc. (Instagram, Facebook), X Corp. (formerly Twitter), Google LLC (YouTube), or any of their parent companies, subsidiaries, or affiliates. The names "Instagram", "Facebook", "X", and "Twitter" as well as related trademarks, logos, and emblems are registered trademarks of their respective copyright holders.
B. Technical Utility Only / No Content Hosting: SonicDownloader operates solely as a client-side downloader tool and browser utility for publicly accessible media. The Developer does NOT host, store, clone, reproduce, license, or index any copyrighted videos, audio files, photos, or media on its servers. All media downloaded using SonicDownloader is delivered directly from the third-party platform's public content delivery networks (CDNs) directly to the user's local hardware storage.
C. Sole User Responsibility for Copyright & Re-Posting: Users are solely responsible for verifying that their downloads and subsequent usage comply with applicable copyright laws, intellectual property rights, and the terms of service of the content source. SonicDownloader is intended strictly for personal, non-commercial, and fair-use archiving purposes.
D. Intellectual Property Infringement: The Developer respects intellectual property rights. Any unauthorized re-uploading, commercial distribution, copyright infringement, or violation of content creator rights by users is strictly prohibited and remains the sole legal liability of the individual user. The Developer disclaims any and all liability arising from user-initiated copyright infringement.
9. Limitation of Liability & Disclaimers
"AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE": SONICDOWNLOADER AND ALL ASSOCIATED SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WAPSAPPS, ITS DEVELOPERS, AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA LOSS, DEVICE DAMAGE, OR SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE APPLICATION, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
INDEMNIFICATION: You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless WapsApps and its developers from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from or relating to your use of the application, your violation of this Policy, or your violation of any third-party rights, including copyright and intellectual property rights.
10. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
SonicDownloader is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or under 16 years of age in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly solicit, collect, or maintain personal information from children under these age limits. If we become aware that personal data of a child has been collected, we will take immediate steps to delete that data from our records. 11. Data Retention & User Deletion Rights
Under applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to request access to, correction of, or permanent deletion of your technical identifiers and device registration records.
How to Exercise Your Deletion Rights:
To request the immediate purge of any server-side telemetry or device records associated with your installation, please email our privacy team at support@wapsapps.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request - SonicDownloader" and include your installation UUID (available in app settings) or Google Advertising ID. Requests are fulfilled within 30 days free of charge.
12. Changes to this Policy & Contact Information
We reserve the right to revise or update this Privacy Policy at our discretion to reflect technical enhancements, statutory amendments, or Google Play policy modifications. Changes are effective immediately upon publishing to this URL. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
